Every day can’t be a feast of lanterns. (Confusius, I think)
That’s something I read from one of those 365 quotes and inspirational daily calendars back in 1982. It seems that I can’t forget it because I’ve used that quote a few times in my posts, right here.
Occasionally, Helping Feed Atlanta’s volunteers contact me, a little disheartened, with news that they didn’t get much from this store or that, and I assure them that, that’s just the way it goes.
But between us, I get disheartened, too. My Mondays have been severely lacking and I was getting slightly bummed but today was a good day — not great, but good — and I know the three non-profits I delivered to were thrilled to get the fresh produce I had for them.
So, everyday can’t be a feast of lanterns, and as Mick once said, You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you get what you need.
(And, by the way, we painted the roof of the van so that office workers could see it from their skyscraper windows.)
